JOB SUMMARY: As the Regional Cost Proposal Officer within the Finance Department, your role is pivotal in developing accurate and competitive cost proposals for projects spanning Eastern Africa. Collaborating closely with diverse departments, you ensure meticulous financial analysis and alignment with organizational objectives, safeguarding financial integrity while fostering strategic growth within this dynamic region.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cost Proposal Development: Spearhead the creation of comprehensive cost proposals for regional projects, meticulously incorporating all financial components such as labor, materials, overhead, and indirect costs.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct rigorous financial analysis to ensure precision and competitiveness of cost proposals. Utilize data, market insights, and industry benchmarks to inform pricing strategies.
  • Collaboration: Foster seamless collaboration across cross-functional teams, including project management, sales, procurement, and legal departments, to gather requisite information and ensure congruence with project requisites and organizational goals.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and evaluate financial risks inherent in cost proposals, such as pricing fluctuations, currency risks, and regulatory shifts. Develop robust mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
  • Proposal Review: Scrutinize and validate cost proposals to ensure adherence to internal policies, client specifications, and regulatory standards. Secure approvals from pertinent stakeholders per organizational protocols.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain meticulous documentation of cost proposal particulars, assumptions, and justifications. Generate insightful reports on proposal status, financial metrics, and key performance indicators for managerial review and strategic decision-making.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive ongoing evaluation and enhancement of cost proposal processes, tools, and methodologies to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and competitiveness. Offer actionable recommendations for process refinement and best practices adoption.
  • Client Engagement: Actively participate in client meetings and negotiations, presenting cost proposals, elucidating pricing components, and addressing client queries. Cultivate and nurture positive client relationships through transparent and professional communication.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. An advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is advantageous. Experience:

  • Accumulate a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, cost accounting, or related roles.
  • Demonstrate prior experience in cost proposal development, particularly within the relevant industry or region.
  • Experience navigating government contracts, international projects, or intricate pricing structures is highly beneficial.
